Large plumes of smoke were reported at a major oil facility in Fujairah after debris from an intercepted Iranian missile fell nearby, according to the Fujairah Media Office.
Officials said air defense systems intercepted the missile before it could reach its target. However, fragments from the missile landed in the vicinity of the oil installation, resulting in visible smoke from the site.
Emergency response teams were deployed quickly to inspect the area and secure the facility. Authorities said investigations are underway to determine the extent of any damage and confirm whether there were injuries.
The incident comes amid rising tensions in the region involving Iran and Gulf states, prompting heightened security around critical infrastructure in the United Arab Emirates.
