KARACHI, March 14, 2026: The Education Department of Sindh has officially granted Drawing and Disbursing Officer (DDO) powers to 34,106 headmasters across the province, a move aimed at streamlining administrative and financial operations in schools.

The decision empowers headmasters to manage school funds directly, including salaries, development budgets, and other financial allocations, reducing dependency on district-level offices. Officials say the measure will accelerate payments, enhance accountability, and improve the management of school resources.

Education Secretary Sindh Education Secretary stated that the step is part of the department’s ongoing efforts to decentralize authority and empower school leadership, particularly in rural and under-served areas.

The department has also issued detailed guidelines to ensure headmasters handle funds transparently, with periodic audits and reporting mechanisms to prevent misuse.

This initiative is expected to strengthen the autonomy of schools, improve financial efficiency, and enhance overall educational administration in Sindh.
