Quetta: The Government of Balochistan Home Department has issued a security threat alert for several political leaders, directing law enforcement agencies to take immediate precautionary measures to ensure their safety.
According to an official notification issued from Quetta on March 8, 2026, authorities have received credible reports indicating a potential threat from terrorist and subversive elements targeting members of the provincial and national assemblies.
The alert specifically names several political figures, including Asgher Khan Tareen, Younas Zehri, Zabid Reki, Abdul Wasey, and Abdul Ghafoor Haideri, who may face potential security risks.
The Home Department has instructed the Frontier Corps, Balochistan Police, commissioners, and senior police officials across the province to immediately assess the security situation and strengthen protective arrangements for the individuals concerned.
Authorities have been directed to conduct security assessments of the leaders’ residences and offices, provide appropriate security cover, increase surveillance and patrolling in relevant areas, and enhance intelligence coordination with the Counter Terrorism Department and Special Branch.
Officials have also asked field formations to remain vigilant and promptly respond to any suspicious activity, while ensuring that any developments are reported to the Home Department on priority.
The directive emphasized that the matter should be treated as “most important and urgent”, reflecting the seriousness of the reported threat.
