Canada has updated its travel guidance regarding the United Arab Emirates, including Dubai, amid rapidly escalating conflict in the Middle East following recent strikes and retaliatory actions involving Iran, the United States, and other countries.
The government of Canada has told Canadian travellers and residents in the UAE to exercise a high degree of caution and has encouraged them to leave the country if they can do so safely using available commercial options. Officials cited growing security risks linked to the region-wide military situation and disruptions to air travel as reasons for the advice.
Commercial flights in and out of Dubai have been severely disrupted after airspace closures affected many routes between the Middle East, Europe, and North America. Several airlines, including Air Canada, have suspended services to Dubai and other Middle Eastern destinations as the situation evolves.
Canadians in Dubai have reported that consular messages are urging them to depart as soon as possible by commercial flight, but some are facing difficulties because flights remain limited or cancelled due to the ongoing conflict.
The Canadian government continues to monitor the situation and issue travel advice, and citizens in the region are encouraged to stay in close contact with Canadian authorities, check official travel advisories, and make contingency plans for departure.
