A team of doctors visited Adiala Jail on Sunday to examine PTI founder Imran Khan, completing the assessment in about an hour, sources said. The party, however, refused to accept the inspection, calling it “malicious” because it was conducted without the presence of his family and personal physicians.

The Supreme Court had earlier directed a medical examination following Imran Khan’s claim that he retained only 15 percent vision in his right eye. The court also allowed him to speak to his children, with both the eye check and the calls to be completed before February 16.

Despite prior government indications that he might be taken to a hospital, the examination was carried out inside the jail. Adiala’s superintendent clarified that Imran was not being moved, and the medical team was there to assess whether he could continue treatment at the jail or required hospital care.

Sources said the team of five doctors conducted a detailed eye examination, blood sampling, and blood pressure check, with senior doctors performing the assessment for around an hour. Equipment for the eye tests was brought to the jail, and a report is expected to be compiled soon.

Imran Khan’s sister, Aleema Khanum, emphasized that no medical procedure should be carried out without the approval of the ex-premier’s personal doctors. She criticized the government for resisting the inclusion of specialists recommended by Imran’s family and questioned the rationale behind rejecting their supervision.

Earlier, Imran’s personal physicians, Dr Aasim Yusuf and Dr Faisal Sultan, called for a comprehensive check-up at Shifa International Hospital in Islamabad, citing the need for urgent retinal specialist care and evaluation of underlying conditions.

Meanwhile, the main opposition alliance, Tehreek-i-Tahafuz-i-Ayin-i-Pakistan (TTAP), continued its sit-in at Parliament House for the third consecutive day, demanding that Imran be allowed hospital treatment under his personal doctors. PTI MNA Asad Qaiser stated that the sit-in would continue until their demands were met and that the party planned to approach the Supreme Court for justice and the right to medical care.

TTAP spokesperson Akhunzada Hussain Yousafzai described the harsh conditions faced by participants, noting limited access to food and water, and confirmed that demonstrations were also ongoing outside the Parliament lodges and at the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa House. Visuals shared by PTI leaders showed key party figures, including Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, Mehmood Khan Achakzai, Senate Opposition Leader Allama Raja Nasir Abbas, Salman Akram Raja, Asad Qaiser, and Faisal Javed, participating in the sit-in.
