KARACHI: Once hoping to make a name in the modelling industry, 31-year-old Anmol Pinky — widely known as Pinky — is now accused of operating a large-scale narcotics network spanning Karachi and Lahore. Investigators claim she managed a sophisticated cocaine supply chain that catered to affluent clients through social media platforms and encrypted messaging apps.

Authorities say Pinky continued her operations despite being under surveillance for several years. Although her Computerised National Identity Card (CNIC) had reportedly been blocked due to multiple criminal cases, officials allege she bypassed restrictions by using bank accounts and SIM cards registered under other people’s identities.

According to investigators, Pinky and her associates allegedly supplied drugs worth millions of rupees every day. Audio clips circulating online, believed to be in her voice, suggest she openly challenged law enforcement agencies and claimed her network would survive even if she were arrested.

Officials involved in the inquiry said Pinky lived in Lahore’s Khayaban-i-Zafar Society with family members, while also maintaining residences in Karachi’s Gulshan-i-Iqbal and Baloch Para areas. She reportedly came from a financially modest background; her father worked as a taxi driver, and her mother was originally from Punjab.

Police sources said Pinky left school during eighth grade and moved to Lahore in pursuit of modelling and acting opportunities. During that period, she allegedly came into contact with individuals who later introduced her to the narcotics trade. Investigators believe she initially worked within an existing drug trafficking network before eventually establishing her own operations.

Authorities claim she later developed a strong distribution system focused mainly on cocaine. Investigators allege she learned methods to increase drug quantities through chemical mixing techniques while maintaining product demand, significantly increasing profits. Her customer base reportedly included students as well as influential individuals.

Sources also alleged that parts of the network operated with unofficial protection from certain officials, though no names have been disclosed publicly.

Family tensions reportedly escalated over the years. Neighbours claimed Pinky’s father publicly severed ties with her through newspaper advertisements published in 2022, citing prolonged absence from home and repeated disregard for family authority.

Police records show more than a dozen cases linked to Pinky, including investigations conducted by the Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF). In several cases, her brothers and another woman were named as co-accused. Some suspects were acquitted in previous proceedings, while Pinky herself was declared an absconder in multiple cases before her recent arrest.

Her legal challenges deepened further after a murder case was registered earlier this month. According to police, an unidentified man believed to be a drug user was found dead near a school in Baghdadi. Investigators claimed narcotics recovered from the scene carried branding allegedly connected to Pinky’s network. Authorities suspect the drugs may have contributed to the victim’s death.

Pinky is currently on police remand as investigators continue probing the alleged scale of her operations and connections.
