Pakistan currently has limited stocks of key petroleum products, according to the Secretary Petroleum, raising concerns about energy security if supply disruptions occur.
Official figures show that the country’s available reserves vary across different fuels. Crude oil stocks are sufficient for only 11 days, while petrol reserves can meet demand for about 27 days. Diesel supplies are estimated to last 21 days, and LPG reserves are available for just 9 days.
Meanwhile, Jet-A1 aviation fuel, which is used by commercial and military aircraft, is available for approximately 14 days.
The disclosure comes amid global uncertainty in oil markets and tensions affecting shipping routes such as the Strait of Hormuz, a vital corridor through which a large share of the world’s oil supply passes.
Energy analysts say Pakistan relies heavily on imported petroleum products, making the country vulnerable to international market fluctuations and disruptions in supply chains. Officials say the government is monitoring the situation and working with suppliers to ensure continued fuel availability.
