SLAMABAD — The Pakistan Navy has intercepted a vessel carrying narcotics worth an estimated $750 million during a joint counter-narcotics operation in the Arabian Sea, officials said.
According to the military’s media wing, Pakistan Navy ships PNS Hunain and PNS Yarmook were conducting maritime security patrols when they identified and intercepted a suspicious vessel. A subsequent search uncovered more than 2,800 kilogrammes of narcotics concealed aboard the boat.
The operation was carried out as part of ongoing efforts to prevent illegal trafficking and strengthen maritime security in the region.
Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf praised the participating personnel for their vigilance and professionalism. He said the Pakistan Navy would continue working to safeguard the country’s maritime interests and counter illicit activities at sea.
The latest seizure is among several significant counter-narcotics operations conducted by Pakistani maritime forces in recent years, reflecting continued efforts to disrupt international drug trafficking routes in the Arabian Sea.
Authorities said maritime surveillance and coordinated operations would continue to prevent the use of Pakistani waters for illegal trafficking.
