Iran has said that joint airstrikes by the United States and Israel have targeted its giant South Pars natural gas field along with associated infrastructure, according to state television.
The reported strikes mark a significant escalation in the ongoing conflict, as the South Pars field—one of the world’s largest natural gas reserves—plays a critical role in Iran’s energy production and economy.
According to Iranian media, the attacks caused damage to parts of the facility and raised concerns about potential disruption to gas production and regional energy supplies. Similar incidents in the past have triggered fires and temporary halts in output at the field.
The development comes amid intensifying military exchanges between Iran, the United States, and Israel, with key infrastructure increasingly becoming a target in the widening conflict. Recent reports have also indicated that strikes have hit energy sites and strategic locations across Iran, heightening fears of broader regional instability.
Iran has condemned the attacks and warned of consequences, while the situation continues to evolve rapidly.
