London, March 2, 2026 — The United Kingdom has accepted a United States request to use British military bases in the region but will not participate in strikes on Iran, Prime Minister Keir Starmer said.
The prime minister stated that British jets are currently airborne to protect UK personnel, partners and allies amid rising tensions in the Middle East. He stressed that the UK’s role is limited to defensive measures and does not include involvement in offensive operations against Iran.
