Kolkata (Daily Dusk) — Sanju Samson delivered a match-winning performance as India secured a thrilling victory over the West Indies in the Super Eight stage of the T20 World Cup, sealing a place in the semi-finals.

Samson, named Player of the Match, scored a stunning 97* off 50 balls, guiding India to their highest successful chase in World Cup history. Handed the trophy by Carlos Brathwaite, Samson described the moment as the culmination of years of hard work and perseverance. “Right from the day I started playing, this is the day I was waiting for… I’ve had ups and downs, doubted myself, but eventually found enough belief,” he said.

Despite not being India’s first-choice opener at the start of the tournament, Samson was brought in as a key player for must-win games. His measured yet aggressive innings allowed India to chase down West Indies’ total of 195, overcoming early wickets while maintaining control of the game. Samson reached his first fifty of the tournament in just 26 balls and anchored the chase with composure, collapsing to his knees and crossing his heart in celebration at the end of the innings.
