The United States Department of Defense has said that around 140 American service members were injured during the recent conflict involving Iran, though most of the injuries were minor.
In an emailed statement cited by The Associated Press, Pentagon spokesperson Sean Parnell said the “vast majority of these injuries have been minor,” adding that 108 personnel had already returned to duty.
Parnell said that eight US service members were classified as “severely injured.”
Meanwhile, The White House spokesperson Karoline Leavitt indicated a similar toll during a briefing, saying an earlier report by Reuters suggesting that as many as 150 US troops had been wounded was in the right “ballpark.”
The figures provide one of the clearest official assessments so far
