Pakistan’s current fuel reserves indicate limited short-term coverage, with official figures showing that crude oil stocks are sufficient for only seven days.
According to the latest assessment, diesel reserves can last for 17 days, while petrol stocks are available for up to 23 days. Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG), widely used for domestic and commercial purposes, is sufficient for nine days, whereas jet fuel (JP-1) reserves stand at 11 days.
The figures reflect the country’s dependence on regular imports to maintain energy supply across key sectors, including transportation, industry, and aviation. Any disruption in global supply chains or shipping routes could pose immediate challenges to maintaining these reserves.
Energy experts emphasize the need for timely replenishment and strategic stock management to avoid shortages, especially amid ongoing regional tensions affecting oil transportation routes.
Authorities are closely monitoring the situation and are expected to take necessary measures to ensure uninterrupted fuel availability and stabilize the domestic energy market.
