Pakistan’s automobile market saw a sharp month-on-month (MoM) decline in February 2026, with total car sales reported at 17,121 units, down 26% from January. However, year-on-year (YoY) sales showed a strong 42% increase, taking cumulative sales for the first eight months of FY26 to 128,498 units, up from 89,770 units in the same period last year, according to Pakistan Automotive Manufacturers Association (PAMA).
The MoM decline is largely attributed to a high base effect from January, when new-year registrations typically surge, coupled with fewer working days in February. Meanwhile, the YoY growth was supported by new market entrants, easing inflation, lower interest rates, and improving macroeconomic sentiment.
Company Performance Highlights:
- Sazgar Engineering (SAZEW) sold 1,682 units in February, up 90% YoY but down 16% MoM.
- Indus Motor Company (INDU) posted a 46% YoY growth but fell 25% MoM to 3,817 units. Corolla, Yaris, and Cross combined sales grew 70% YoY but dropped 24% MoM to 3,102 units. Fortuner and IMV sales declined 10% YoY and 27% MoM to 715 units.
- Honda Atlas Cars (HCAR) recorded a 3% YoY increase but fell 42% MoM to 2,114 units. City & Civic sales fell 1% YoY and 45% MoM to 1,861 units, while BR-V & HR-V sales rose 42% YoY but were down 1% MoM, totaling 253 units.
- Hyundai Nishat Motors saw a 3% YoY decline but maintained flat MoM sales at 1,021 units.
- Pak Suzuki Motors (PSMC) posted a 53% YoY increase but fell 25% MoM to 8,160 units.
Other Vehicle Segments:
- Two- and three-wheeler sales grew 24% YoY but fell 12% MoM to 159,512 units, with cumulative 8MFY26 sales reaching 1.3 million units, up 31% YoY.

- Tractor sales rose 12% YoY but fell 31% MoM to 1,717 units.
- Truck and bus sales surged 37% YoY but dropped 40% MoM to 664 units.
Analysts note that while MoM fluctuations are normal due to seasonal registration trends, the strong YoY growth indicates continued recovery in Pakistan’s auto industry, driven by new launches and improving consumer sentiment.
