Ishaq Dar has held a telephone conversation with Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud amid continuing Iranian attacks on Gulf states, highlighting Islamabad’s ongoing diplomatic engagement in the region.

According to reports, the call came shortly after Shehbaz Sharif wrote a letter to Iran’s new supreme leader Mojtaba Khamenei, expressing condolences over the death of his father, Ali Khamenei. The elder Khamenei was reportedly killed on February 28 when the United States and Israel launched military operations against Iran.

In his message, Sharif also expressed hope for Iran’s future under the leadership of Mojtaba Khamenei.

Pakistan’s outreach to both Saudi Arabia and Iran reflects Islamabad’s careful diplomatic balancing between two key regional partners. Pakistan shares a long border with Iran, while Saudi Arabia remains one of its most important economic and strategic allies.

Analysts say the parallel engagement underscores Pakistan’s efforts to maintain stability in the region while safeguarding its strategic relationships with both countries.
