Moscow, March 2, 2026 – Former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev has warned that while World War III is not currently underway, it could start at any moment if the United States continues its current military approach toward Iran.
Medvedev said the ongoing U.S. and Israeli operations against Iranian targets have escalated tensions in the region to dangerous levels, and he cautioned that further action could trigger a global conflict.
He called on international leaders to take immediate steps to de-escalate the situation and stressed the importance of diplomacy in preventing a broader war.
The remarks come amid a series of U.S. military strikes in Iran, drone attacks, and rising regional instability, prompting concern among world powers about the potential for wider confrontation.
