The Israeli military has said it detected missiles launched from Iran toward Israeli territory, triggering air defence systems as tensions between the two regional rivals continue to escalate.
According to the Israeli army, several missiles were identified heading toward the country, prompting the activation of defensive systems designed to intercept incoming threats. The military said its defence network was working to neutralize the missiles before they could reach populated areas.
Air raid sirens sounded across several parts of Israel following the detection of the launches, with authorities urging residents to move into shelters and protected areas. Explosions were reportedly heard in the distance as interception systems engaged the incoming projectiles.
Emergency services said there were no immediate reports of fatalities, although some individuals were treated for minor injuries sustained while rushing to shelters after the warning sirens were activated.
The incident comes amid a rapidly intensifying confrontation between Iran and Israel, which has expanded into a wider regional crisis in recent weeks. Hostilities sharply escalated after joint military strikes carried out by Israel and the United States targeted Iranian military and strategic facilities, prompting retaliatory missile and drone attacks by Tehran.
Since the beginning of the current conflict phase, both sides have exchanged multiple waves of attacks, including missile strikes, drone operations and air raids targeting military installations and infrastructure. The conflict has also drawn in several other areas across the Middle East, with attacks reported against military assets and strategic locations linked to Western forces in the region.
Military analysts say that while Israel possesses advanced air defence systems capable of intercepting many incoming missiles, the repeated launches continue to pose a serious security challenge. The latest launches highlight the continuing volatility in the region, with fears that the confrontation could widen further if missile exchanges intensify. International observers have warned that sustained hostilities between Iran and Israel could have far-reaching consequences for regional stability, global energy markets and international security.
