Iran’s president has asserted his country’s commitment to peace in the region in conversations with foreign leaders, including counterparts in Russia and Pakistan, amid the ongoing conflict sparked by strikes against Iran by the United States and Israel this year.

According to a recent report, President Masoud Pezeshkian stated that Iran seeks peace and that the only viable path to end the war is through the recognition of Iran’s legitimate rights, payment of reparations, and firm international guarantees against future aggression. These remarks were made in the context of diplomatic engagements, including talks with Pakistan’s prime minister and Russia’s president, aimed at discussing regional stability and cooperation.

In a call with Shehbaz Sharif, the Iranian president emphasised that Tehran does not seek broader conflicts with neighbouring states and reaffirmed Iran’s commitment to peaceful relations, even as tensions continue to affect the region.

The push for recognised rights and reparations comes amid a backdrop of widespread diplomatic efforts and heightened regional diplomacy as leaders grapple with the consequences of the ongoing conflict that has disrupted global energy routes and drawn in multiple powers.

Iran’s framing of peace in terms of rights, compensation, and security guarantees reflects its position that broader geopolitical stability requires not just cessation of hostilities but also formal mechanisms to prevent future aggression. International reaction to these propositions remains mixed as global powers continue diplomatic engagement and efforts to de‑escalate tensions.
