Islamabad, February 17, 2026: Imran Khan’s sisters and opposition alliance TTAP have rejected Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi’s account of the jailed ex-premier’s recent medical examination, accusing the government of misrepresenting facts and politicising his health.
Naqvi, citing a medical report, claimed Imran received proper treatment at Adiala Jail and later at PIMS, with PTI-appointed doctors allowed to review the findings. He alleged that Imran’s sister Aleema Khanum delayed the process and politicised arrangements.
In response, Aleema, Uzma Khanum, and Noreen Niazi said Imran’s requests for personal doctors and proper medical attention were ignored. They raised concerns over delays in treatment for his worsening vision and questioned the nature of an injection administered in jail. The sisters also highlighted that the government denied their choice of hospital and doctors, breaching prior commitments.
TTAP described Naqvi’s briefing as “misleading,” emphasizing that decisions regarding Imran’s health rest with his family and personal physicians. The alliance and PTI warned that prolonged solitary confinement and restricted medical access could constitute human rights violations.
Parliamentary Affairs Minister Tariq Fazal Chaudhry assured that Imran would continue treatment under expert supervision and urged an end to politicisation.
