The Gulf Cooperation Council has declared that its members stand united and prepared to act in response to what they described as escalating Iranian hostility.
In an emergency video conference, the foreign ministers of United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Qatar and Kuwait evaluated the consequences of recent strikes linked to Iran and agreed on the need for a coordinated and resolute approach.
In a joint statement, the bloc affirmed its commitment to preserving national sovereignty, safeguarding citizens and residents, and securing strategic installations. It made clear that any further escalation would be met with collective and proportionate measures.
The council also pressed for an immediate cessation of hostilities, warning that continued unrest in the Gulf poses serious risks not only to regional peace but also to global trade and energy security.
