Islamabad, March 25, 2026 — Turkey, Egypt and Pakistan are actively pushing to arrange a high-level meeting between the United States and Iran within the next 48 hours, with Islamabad being considered as a potential venue, according to media reports.
Diplomatic sources indicate that these three countries are working as mediators to bring both sides to the table amid escalating tensions and ongoing conflict in the reg
However, despite the urgency, significant hurdles remain. Iran has shown only tentative openness to talks and has not formally agreed to participate in a meeting in Islamabad.
Pakistan has offered to host the negotiations and is reportedly facilitating back-channel communications between Washington and Tehran. The effort is part of a broader push to secure a ceasefire and de-escalate hostilities.

Officials say that while Islamabad is being discussed as a possible venue, no final decision has been made, and both sides remain far apart on key issues, including military actions and conditions for negotiations.
Analysts note that ongoing military tensions, mutual distrust, and competing demands—particularly from Iran—make the prospects of immediate breakthrough uncertain, even as diplomatic momentum builds.
