The renowned educationist Mazhar ul Haq Siddiqui dies today at the age of 91.
Mazhar ul Haque Siddiqui served as Vice Chancellor of the University of Sindh from May 1984 to May 1988 and later from July 2001 to 2009. During his tenure, he was widely credited with revitalizing the institution, strengthening its academic foundations and steering it toward growth and modernization. He firmly believed in uplifting the university from the grassroots level and worked tirelessly for its development.
Beyond academia, Siddiqui sahib held some of the most prestigious positions in the civil service. He served as Secretary of Education, Secretary of Youth Affairs Division, Secretary of the Establishment Division, Secretary of the Management Service Division, Secretary of the Economic Affairs and Statistics Division, and Secretary of Services and General Administration. His administrative career was marked by integrity, competence and visionary leadership.
He also served as Chairman of the Vice Chancellors’ Committee of Sindh, Member of the Federal Service Commission, and Member of the Syndicate of Mehran University of Engineering and Technology, contributing significantly to higher education policy and governance
