Reports on Saturday indicated that an explosion or interception occurred in the sky near Dubai International Airport in Dubai. Witnesses said a loud blast was heard followed by smoke in the air above the airport area.
However, officials later clarified that the airport itself was not directly hit. Authorities said the incident happened when air-defence systems intercepted a projectile, and debris fell near the area, causing the smoke that people saw.
The situation caused temporary disruption to flights, with some aircraft delaying or aborting their landings while authorities assessed the situation.
The event is linked to the wider regional conflict involving Iran and its adversaries, which has already disrupted air travel across several Gulf countries and forced some airports to suspend or limit flights.
