In a fresh diplomatic move aimed at easing rising tensions in the Middle East, Badr Abdelatty has offered Egypt’s assistance in mediating between regional rivals during a phone conversation with his Iranian counterpart.

According to diplomatic sources, Abdelatty spoke with Abbas Araghchi and conveyed Cairo’s readiness to support efforts that could reduce escalating hostilities across the region. The Egyptian foreign minister emphasized the importance of dialogue and restraint to prevent the situation from spiraling into a broader conflict.

During the discussion, Araghchi defended recent Iranian military actions against Gulf countries, describing them as legitimate defensive measures taken in response to perceived threats.

The Iranian minister also stressed that Iran remains committed to maintaining cordial and brotherly relations with neighboring states. He highlighted Tehran’s preference for regional cooperation frameworks that would ensure stability and security without the involvement of outside powers.
