RAWALPINDI, Feb 15: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) and Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, NI (M), HJ paid an official visit to Germany from February 12 to 14, where he attended key meetings held on the margins of the 62nd Munich Security Conference.
According to a statement released by Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the army chief held discussions with several international figures and senior officials on matters of global and regional significance.
During the visit, Field Marshal Munir met with Marco Rubio, US Secretary of State. Both sides exchanged views on issues of shared interest, particularly the evolving global and regional security landscape and cooperation in counterterrorism.
As part of his engagements with German authorities, the COAS called on Alexander Dobrindt, Federal Minister of the Interior of Germany; Günter Sautter, Foreign and Security Policy Advisor to the German Chancellor; and General Carsten Breuer, Chief of Defence of the German Armed Forces. Discussions focused on present-day security challenges, strengthening bilateral defence cooperation, and promoting global peace through dialogue at bilateral and multilateral forums.
In addition, the army chief held a constructive meeting with Admiral Renato Rodrigues de Aguiar Freire, Chief of the Joint Staff of the Brazilian Armed Forces, where both sides discussed enhancing military-to-military cooperation. General Rodolph Haykal, Commander of the Lebanese Armed Forces, also met the COAS to deliberate on regional security developments and avenues to expand defence collaboration.
The visit highlighted Pakistan’s continued engagement with the international community to advance peace, stability, and cooperative security efforts worldwide.
