Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa led Pakistan’s energy production in January 2026, according to a monthly report by Topline Securities.
Sindh accounted for 62% of the country’s gas output, while KP contributed 41% of crude oil. Sindh also added 40% to national oil production, with Punjab at 18% and Balochistan at just 1%. In gas production, Balochistan followed Sindh with 21%, KP contributed 14%, and Punjab’s share was minimal at 3%.
The report noted that total crude oil production averaged around 65,000 barrels per day, reflecting a slight 1% decline year-on-year and a 0.4% drop month-on-month. Gas production reached 2,793 million cubic feet per day, down 12% compared to January 2025 but up 7% from the previous month. LPG output fell to 2,012 tonnes per day, declining 7% year-on-year and 6% month-on-month.
In exploration, the Tibri-1 well operated by UEP, with 44% interest held by Mari Petroleum, marked a new hydrocarbon discovery. January also saw a 33% increase in exploratory well drilling and a 10–11% rise in seismic acquisition, though development well drilling dropped by 15% compared to December 2025.
